Finleyville Borough Council decided it’s not too early to begin thinking about street repairs in the upcoming spring and summer.

Mayor Kutsek mentioned that Cliff Street and School Place are in bad shape and are good candidates for milling and repaving. He also suggested that tarring cracks needs to be addressed to prevent further deterioration of borough streets – particularly in the areas where streets cross.

In Regular Business:

All council members were present at this meeting as were the Mayor, Solicitor, Secretary/Treasurer and a representative of the Police Force.

• Minutes from the February 6th meeting were reviewed and approved without correction.
• The Treasurer’s report was reviewed and accepted as presented. It was noted that “Impact Fees” from gas well drilling went into the General Fund several months ago.
• The Mayor noted that some soffit and fascia needed reattached or replaced and the rear door of the borough building needed refit and sealed.
• Borough garbage cans are rusted and need replaced.
• A telephone pole across from the feed store was sheared off and the remaining sharp section needs removed. Verizon will be contacted.

• It was announced that all but two businesses have paid the 2012 business privilege tax.
• Letters will be sent out to affected residents that Waste Management will no longer be picking up garbage on Marion Avenue Extension. Residents will need to place garbage cans at the front of their homes along Washington Avenue.
