After thirty years Ms. Elaine M. Phillips, Rostraver Township Tax Collector, is retiring. Phillips has endorsed Jody Spedaliere for Rostraver Township Tax Collector due to his ambition and fiscal responsibility. Spedaliere has been shadowing her office and would be honored to be a public servant for all citizens of Rostraver Township.

Monessen has two anniversary dates, associated with its founding – both in September. The first, September 3 commemorates the day, in 1898 when Monessen was carved out of Rostraver Township and forged into a Borough. The second date, September 21 commemorates the day in 1921, when Monessen went from a Borough to a Third-Class City. This year is the 100th anniversary of the latter. Read more...
