The Finleyville Council today passed a resolution authorizing police to tow any vehicle parked in a metered parking slot if the meter has been over-run for payment for a period of over two hours.
A vehicle ticketed for illegal parking (overrun meter) in a metered parking slot when rechecked in two hours will be towed if it remains illegally parked. This change to the parking ordinance was made by resolution.

Solicitor Berrgren reported that he’s sent out letters to five Finleyville businesses on January 4, notifying them of overdue business privilege taxes. These letters followed reminder letters sent out in November. The council passed a motion authorizing Solicitor Berrgren to begin civil actions with the local magistrate for overdue business privilege taxes.

Sandy Mayak continues training new Secretary/Treasurer Coleen Mellor as they complete the new office set-up. They continue to iron out computer software and hardware problems as Colleen learns what the job entails. President Kegel complimented them both on the work being done.

All Council members were present at this meeting, as was the secretary/treasurer, and the solicitor. Mayor Kutsek was absent from this meeting. Police officer Larry Maraldo and K9 Officer Benny were also present at the meeting.

In Regular Business:

• Minutes of the January meeting were approved and accepted as read.
• The treasurer’s report was distributed to council members and accepted as read by motion.
• There were no committee reports.
• Garbage pick-up is being eliminated on Marion Ave. Extension. Residents affected will need to place their garbage on Washington Ave. for pick-up.
• A motion passed authorizing State Representative Rick Saccone the use of the borough building for a meeting with his constituents on Monday, April 29 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon.
• It was announced that the next Tri-County Borough meeting would be held February 23 in the Bentleyville Civic Center.
• Real estate taxes in the amount of $1,125 will be repaid to the owner of apartments at 3520 Washington Ave. due to a reassessment. A motion carried to make the refund.
• President Kegel reminded the council members that three council terms (Tim Kegel, Irene Allridge, and Bob Richards) will be up this year as well as the mayor’s position.
