Held on June 4 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Monessen Amphitheater, “Doo Wop in the Park” was a nice, relaxing step back in time for everyone who attended.

DJ Dennis Wince takes a short break from his work.

The Monessen Amphitheater Committee hosted the event, and DJ Dennis Wince donated his services. When it began, Amphitheater committee president and newly elected Monessen Mayor Matthew Shorraw announced, “Thank you all for coming out, and enjoy the beautiful weather.” He also said later that he will continue to be involved in these events.

DJ Dennis Wince said of his donated service, “I’ll do anything to help my city. The venue is nice, especially on a beautiful day like today.” He said that he volunteered his services before and offered to play requests. Oldies lovers enjoyed such classics as: “Runaround Sue,” “Earth Angel,” and “Fallin’ in Love with You.”

Food was sold by Ronnie Painter’s RP’s BBQ, including hot dogs, fresh cut fries, pork chops, kielbasa and more. Refreshments were being sold by the Amphitheater Committee. There was opportunity for fellowship, and a good time was had by all. For future events at Monessen Amphitheater, visit their site on Facebook.
