Testimonial Held for Dan Haywood of Dunlevy

Dan Haywood of Dunlevy enjoyed a reunion recently with many of his former players during a testimonial at the White Barn Café in Dunlevy recognizing his more than 50 years of involvement with soccer.

Haywood was coach of the 1964-65 Dunlevy Juniors, who won three championships and advanced to the Eastern Regionals of the National Cup tournament. He also coached the highly successful Dunlevy Angels girls team that won three successive Western Pennsylvania championships and appeared in the national tournament three times in the 1980s. He served 19 years as head coach of the women’s varsity team at Charleroi Area High School, where his teams won seven WPIAL sectional crowns and played in two WPIAL and two PIAA (state) championship games. He has been head coach of the girls team at Bentworth High School since 2005.
