The Youghiogheny Country Club Women's Golf Association and Nine Hole Golf League Recently made the following announcements.

YCC Cancer Center Fundraising

Youghiogheny Country Club Women’s Nine Hole Golf League combined with the Eighteen Hole Women’s Golf Association to hold a benefit for the Jodie Matta Dillinger Cancer Research Center at McKeesport Hospital.   The event raised a total of $730.

YCC Ladies Club Championship

The Women’s Golf Association of Youghiogheny Country Club held their two-day championship recently. The ladies congratulated the winners with a champagne luncheon following the final round. Low gross winner with a score of 188 and the 2019 Club Champion was Diane Riley. Sara Kostelac won 1st Division with a two day net score of 150, and Maureen Fiore won the 2nd Division with a two day net score of 147.

2019 Gala Day Theme: “Take Thyme to Golf with the Herbs”

The Youghiogheny 18 Hole Women’s Golf Association hosted its annual ‘Gala Day’ golf outing recently at the Youghiogheny Country Club. Penny Natale assisted Chairlady Jane Marino to organize a Herb-themed event. Two teams, ‘Basil Babes’ and ‘Rosemary Rockets’, were paired against each other in match play. In a close match, Rosemary outscored Basil 65 1/2 to 60 1/2.

Following an herb infused luncheon, ladies elected their nominating committee for 2020:

YCC Ladies Vie for the ‘Ryder Cup’

Playing twenty-seven holes in warm temperatures with high humidity was not easy feat for the 18-hole ladies. The competition was hot. Pairing high handicappers with low handicappers to make two-person teams, YCC golf professional Troy Williams organized teams for the annual 18-Hole Women’s Ryder Cup held recently at Youghiogheny County Club.

Teresa Garella and Betty Lee Hancsak edged their competitors Penny Natale and Jane Marino by one stroke, 98 to 99, respectively.

 Spang Wins ‘Scrambled Egg” Event

Youghiogheny Country Club Women’s Nine Hole Golf League winner of the day was Ginger Spang, who won the Scrambled Eggs Event, which is a different game on each Hole

YCC Ladies “Take a Swing on the Wild Side”

The 18-Hole Women’s Golf Association of Youghiogheny Country Club recently hosted their ‘Doe Day’. Chairlady Sandy Payne and committee members Linda Byers, Lorraine Payne, and Dottie Wissen organized the continental breakfast and luncheon as well as the prizes for both members and guests.

Many women donned their animal print attire. The golfers found animal prints on pencils, water bottles, and straws. Refreshing Jungle juice greeted them at the turn. Snack bags contained animal crackers, Gummy bears, and Cheetos. Foliage with Tiki torches decorated prize holes.

Skill prize winners were:

Longest putt on #9: member, Sara Kostelac and guest, Maureen Stewart;

2nd shot closest to the pin on #7: member, Cora Guinto and guest, Lori Burns;

Closest drive to the pin on #13: member, Vickie McDevitt and guest, Bernice Francia.

The winning team with 125 points consisted of Lorraine Payne, Donna Schneider, Susie Perrin and Denise Kahler. All 12 teams were winners. Each lady took home “Wild” gifts: Animal prints on scarves, rain hats, purses, make-up bags, jewelry, lunch bags (with Cheetah beer), banana liquor and more.
