During a special meeting on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the Board of Directors of the West Jefferson Hills School District appointed Ashley Malley to the board, serving for a term until December 2025. The appointment comes following the resignation of board member Chelsea Campolongo who recently moved out of the district.
Ashley Malley is the newest board member for the West Jefferson Hills School District |
Malley, a 2004 TJ alumna, works as a talent acquisition manager for Aspen Dental and is married with two children, ages four and two. Malley is a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hills. Malley told the board that she applied to ensure that her children and all students in the district have the same positive education experience that she did in the West Jefferson Hills School District.
The district advertised for community members interested in serving on the board of directors to submit a letter of application and resume for consideration. In the letter, applicants were asked to detail the skills and experience they would bring to the board, the reasons for wanting to join the board, two key issues that the individual would want to address as a board member, and any volunteer service in the school district or community. Eligible applicants had to be 18 years or older, possess good moral character, and must have resided in the West Jefferson Hills School District for at least one year prior to the appointment. School board members are volunteers and are not paid for their service. Malley will be sworn in at a school board meeting in August.
Also at its July 23 meeting, the board of directors hired Mark Mariani as the district’s director of facilities. Mariani most recently worked as an assistant director of operations with the City of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a degree in public administration.
