School News

Colleen Triffanoff, West Jefferson Hills School District School Counselor for Kindergarten through 2nd grade, created a program to help elementary students adjust to the new school year and ease any anxieties that they may be facing throughout the school year.

Mrs. Triffanoff worked with the classroom teachers to select one male and one female student per homeroom to serve as a Student Ambassador for the entire school year. The Student Ambassadors participate in ongoing training that encourages them to be kind, welcoming, and always helping those in need.

Since the district reconfigured the elementary schools to accommodate increased enrollment, many elementary students had to change schools and leave their familiar surroundings. According to Mrs. Triffanoff, the Student Ambassador Program will be a great resource for students affected by the redistricting and also benefit new students that transfer into the district throughout the year.

Student Ambassadors will help students adjust to their new school by finding their way around, helping them learn teacher/student names, assisting them at lunch and in recess, and simply by being a friendly face to sit by, talk to and lend support to when needed.

Thank you to Mrs. Triffanoff and all of the Student Ambassadors.
