The Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) is accepting applications from families for scholarships through the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development’s Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) Program.

Through the Community Foundation’s EOS Fund, scholarships are awarded to financially needy students, as determined by state income guidelines, who reside within the boundary of a low-achieving school to attend a participating non-public school or a participating public school outside of the recipient’s school district of residence. “Low-achieving schools” are defined as public elementary or secondary schools in Pennsylvania ranking in the bottom 15 percent of their designation as an elementary or secondary school based upon combined math and reading PSSA scores.

Individual scholarship amounts will be determined based upon the number of qualified student applicants relative to the total available dollars; however, the total value of scholarships provided from all sources may not exceed the cost of tuition. Preference is given to students who reside in Washington County and/or students who attend school in Washington County. Checks will be made payable to the student’s school for credit to the student’s account.

Applications must be submitted electronically using the online EOS Fund (OSTC) scholarship application available on www.wccf.net. Additionally, families must provide hard copies of their federal tax returns to the WCCF office at 1253 Route 519, P.O. Box 308, Eighty Four, PA 15330 to verify eligibility. Scholarship applications will be processed on an ongoing basis until the available money has been exhausted.

The mission of the Washington County Community Foundation is to improve the quality of life in Washington County by promoting and facilitating philanthropy. A 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, the Foundation has cumulatively awarded more than $1.8 million to local students from all scholarship funds. To learn more about the WCCF, please visit www.wccf.net or contact the Foundation at 724-222-6330 with any questions.
