On July 19, 2015, Calvary Chapel South Pittsburgh (CCSP) launched the opening of their new church to West Elizabeth and the surrounding communities. What started out as a small gathering of friends who met in Pastor Tim Green’s living room grew to become the church family known as CCSP.

Their first church services were held in the Elizabeth Grand Theatre, while they remodeled the building that was previously the Methodist Church. Local realtor Lori Maffeo orchestrated the sale of the building to M-S Associates, who now, in turn, leases the building to Pastor Green and CCSP.

It was a long and difficult process, but the team was able to lay the groundwork for the opening of the church. Volunteers worked tirelessly to paint the walls, lay carpet, and repair the building, which had been vacant for 4 years. Green described his congregation as a fellowship of givers.

Setting things in motion, CCSP held their first VBS for children and teens. There was also a VBS for adults, led by church member Jon Kennedy.

Pastor Green and his wife, Jan, are anxious to do all they can for the people of West Elizabeth, as spiritual advisers, mentors for the youth, and most importantly, as friends.
