The Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) is pleased to announce that it has received a $2,500 gift from Community Bank to serve as the exclusive sponsor of the Foundation’s new Heart of Giving Charity Storybook website, an online collection of impact stories about the charities that serve Washington County.

Community Bank President & CEO Barron P. McCune, Jr. explores the WCCF Heart of Giving Charity Storybook website.

“We at Community Bank are mindful of our obligations to give back to the community that supports us and allows us to exist and serve. It is our pleasure to be associated with the WCCF, another organization that shares this view, through the Heart of Giving Charity Storybook website project,” remarked Community Bank President & CEO Barron P. McCune, Jr., who also serves on the WCCF’s Board of Trustees.

McCune went on to say, “The Foundation’s Heart of Giving Charity Storybook website is a place where anyone can go to learn more about how charities are making an impact locally. We believe it is a valuable resource that will be of interest to charity-minded individuals in the Washington County area with a heart for giving, including Community Bank customers who participate in our ‘Community Bank Cares’ program.”

Launched in March 2014, the “Community Bank Cares” program was established by the Bank as a way of thanking its customers and giving back to the communities it serves. For every new direct loan Community Bank makes (over $20,000), the Bank will contribute $100 to the charity or church of the customer’s choice in honor of that customer. To date, “Community Bank Cares” has distributed nearly $100,000 to approximately 350 different charitable organizations locally and across the nation. A number of those local organizations are already participating in the Charity Storybook.

Members of the community are encouraged to register on the Heart of Giving Charity Storybook website to indicate which stories touch their hearts and be entered for occasional contests and giveaways. Local charities that wish to appear on the site are also encouraged to register. Visit storybook.wccf.net for more information.
