The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Inc. has announced the topics for their annual Irish History Writing Contest. The topic for both levels is "The Role of the Irish People in the American Civil War." Entries must be submitted by November 15, 2014.

Level 1 includes grades 6, 7, and 8. The top prize for Level 1 is $500.

Level 2 includes grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. The top prize for Level 2 is $1,000.

Students in parochial, private, public schools or who are home­ schooled are eligible to participate. Anyone interested in learning more about this contest can contact Rose Venanzi, Irish Historian for the Mary Ellen O'Neil Division, at 724-258-5295.
