The Mid-Mon Valley Shipmates Flag Committee has resumed the Flag Etiquette Program for the 2014- 2015 school year.

The program is available to all area schools and is typically presented to 5th grade students. The program is approximately 45 minutes long and explains our national emblem, the Flag Code, disrespect and proper respect of the flag, the Pledge of Alliance, the National Anthem and a stirring poem about the American Flag.

The Shipmates do the proper folding of the flag as the meaning of each fold is explained. This is followed by three students repeating the folding of the flag. Time permitting, a Q&A is held and the Shipmates are introduced and give a short history of their Navy duties and their land and ship assignments. The program concludes with the proper way to retire the flag at the end of the day.

School officials interested in this program are requested to call Patrick Maloy at 443-994-3349 for more information and scheduling. Programs are preferably scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays.
