Through funds generated by the Melvin B. Bassi Golf Tournament, the MVRCC sends a qualified participant through the program each year.

Leadership Washington County is a year-long intensive program that develops effective leaders to help improve our communities. Through a day-long class each month, for nine months, combined with field trips and a class project, participants are guided to a better understanding of themselves, their community, and their role in making a positive impact in Washington County. Leadership Washington County is open to any citizen residing in or working in Washington County. It has been operating for 13 years, and the growing ranks of LWC alumni are a new resource for the many non-profits in the county looking for qualified individuals to serve on their Boards.

Chamber members Diane Bianchi and Sam Spina recently graduated from Leadership Washington County through scholarships awarded last year through the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony for the Class of 2014 was held in May at Bella Sera restaurant in Washington, PA.

Program tuition is $975 per participant with the Chamber's scholarship in the amount of $825. The remaining $150 is paid by the participant or the participant's employer to demonstrate a commitment to the program.

The MVRCC will be awarding a scholarship for the Class of 2015. Interest forms will be accepted only from members in good standing by August 15, 2014, 4:00 p.m. Sorry, representatives from reciprocal organizations are not eligible for these scholarships.

For more information and a copy of the scholarship guidelines, call the Chamber office at 724-483-3507. Also visit www.leadershipwashington.com to learn more about Leadership Washington County.
