Preschool Storytime
The Monongahela Area Library will hold preschool Storytime beginning on September 11 and each Wednesday at 11 a.m. through the end of November. The program is intended for children 30 months through 5 years and features songs, games and a craft as well as reading.

Book Bites Book Club
The Book Bites Book Club for adults will meet the third Thursday, September 19, at 1 p.m. to discuss the classic Agatha Christie novel, “Murder in the Vicarage.” Copies of the book are available at the library and new members are welcome.

WAGGIN Library Card
The library staff is currently booking appointments on Monday evening between 5 – 7 p.m. and Friday days for patrons who want to learn how to manage their WAGGIN library card. The new countywide card allows patrons to retain reading lists and saved searches if they desire, as well as renew and reserve books from their home computer.

Fundraisers
Giving to the library will be extra easy on two days in September when the Belle Vernon Hoss’ hosts the Friends of the Library’s Community Day. Patrons who dine at the restaurant and present the coupon will have a percentage of the check donated to the library by the restaurant. The following day the library is participating in the Washington County Community Foundation’s Day of Giving when donations made to the library online through the WCCF website will have a percentage matched.

Book Signing
John Tiech, the author of “Pittsburgh Film History: On Set in the Steel City” will be on hand at the Monongahela Area Library on Saturday, September 14 for a book signing at 11 a.m. The author will also discuss films and television programs with a tie to the local area. While the greater Pittsburgh region has been the home to many films over the decades, Tiech noted that “Mothman Prophecies” and “Love and Other Drugs” are among those filmed in this section of the region.
