The Donora Public Library, located at 510 Meldon Avenue in Donora will be holding the following upcoming programs and events. Please call the library for more information or questions at 724-379-7940.
Adult Reading Group
The Donora Public Library invites all those interested in forming an adult reading group to meet at the Library at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, August 15. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss what kinds of things we want to read and at what time we want to meet. We plan to enjoy making new friends and meeting new authors together!
Scrabble Saturday’s
Why spend Saturday Scrub-bling when you could be Scrabbling instead? Wake up those Q and Z words, loosen up the other consonant-carriers in the memory bank, and join in a friendly game of Scrabble, Saturdays at the Donora Public Library.
Book Signing
The Donora Historical Society and the Donora Public Library invite you to attend a book signing and reception on Saturday, September 21 at the library, introducing Steel Town Showdown, a new historical whodunit by local author and historian D.W. Lonich, with illustrations by local artist Slade Black. For the benefit of the Historical Society and the Library, copies of Steel Town Showdown will be available for purchase at this event.
Knitting and Crochet Group
Yarn-ing for someone to teach you to knit or crochet? Whether you are a highly skilled or highly out-of-practice knitter or crocheter, we're the group for you - come knit and crochet with us at the Donora Public Library, the second Thursday of every month, 5:30 to 7 p.m. You can bring an existing project or start a new one. No yarn, no hooks, no needles? No worries - we have some you can use at the library, no charge. (The only thing warmer and fuzzier than our attitude is the yarn!).
Jewelry and Handbags Wanted!
Rhinestones and bling, oh my! We at the Donora Public Library love it, and we hope you do too - because when we love something, we want to learn all about it, and do we have a great program on the way for collectors! Right now, we are collecting donations of new or gently used vintage costume jewelry and handbags for our fall fundraiser. Coming up: our Fall Used- Books-and-Bling Sale, featuring a talk on collectible costume jewelry and accessories by Katie Monsour, co-author (with her mother, Ronnie Aikins) of collector's guides to both costume jewelry and handbags! Watch for the date and plan to attend--you can add to your collections and identify your best finds!
