“Roaring Twenties” Event set for September 21

The Greater Monessen Historical Society will host a “Roaring Twenties Experience Dinner and Dance” on Saturday, September 21 at St. Spyridon’s Greek Orthodox Church Hall, 1207 Grand Blvd., Monessen.

The event will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 each. The dinner will be a ham buffet with side dishes, along with hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and dessert. The “Ortner Roberts Group” will provide live entertainment. There will also be games of chance, raffles and drawings. Tickets are available at the Monessen Heritage Museum, 505 Donner Avenue, Monessen, PA or by calling 724-684-8460. Seating is limited. Period costumes encouraged but optional.

The current exhibit in the Heritage Museum showcases the history of the Monessen City School District from its beginnings in 1899 to the present day. Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. or by special appointment.

Vintage prom dresses are needed for the front show window of the annex building during the school exhibit. Dresses can be loaned to the historical society and brought in during regular business hours
