The August meeting of the Mid-Mon Valley Shipmates was called to order by Commander Bill Hess, followed by the playing of the Navy Hymn; George Diehl giving the opening prayer; and Lou Casciani led the group with the pledge to the flag.

Thank you cards were received from: The William Elwood family for the Two-Bell service held for their father, Bill Elwood, on July 8; Karen Heasley for the service in honor of her husband, Paul A. Heasley on June 18; Troop Appreciation Organization for our monetary donation; and from the Russell family in behalf of their father, Carl Russell for the services held on August 4.

Cdr Hess thanked everyone who attended and participated in the parade at Finleyville on July 24. Joe Gallo gave the annual picnic report which was held in July. Joe thanked all the women who graciously brought in the desserts for the picnic. Thanks to the picnic committee: Chairperson Joe Gallo, Wilbur Harris, Robert Mascetta, Eugene Maisano, LaLa Masci, Fred Kernisky and George Essey. Also, to non-shipmate John Perozzi for his yearly help. A real appreciative thank you to Beverly Mascetta, Micki Harris, Mary Ann Gallo for their assistance in setting up, and to Andy Rudy for his service.

This year's Christmas party is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 3.
Marshall Lignian requested a short meeting of anyone interested in the school flag program to be held immediately following the regular meeting. (Nine men stayed for this meeting and Marshall will be making school contacts in a couple of weeks.)
A discussion was also held on the Burial At Sea Program and more info will be mailed out shortly. The dismissal prayer was given by George Diehl and the meeting was adjourned until the next meeting on September 3.
