The Monongahela Historical society functions today as a monthly meeting organization which has become a strong voice in the community on such issues as: historic preservation, community development, and participating with other organizations to enhance the quality of life in our town.

The society also maintains a museum located at 230 West Main Street where members have been working diligently all summer archiving the contents in the computer. One of its goals is to provide a place where people can do research by accessing information more easily. The society is always interested in accepting materials dealing with Monongahela such as photos with accompanied identification, artifacts pertaining to Monongahela , books, mementos, and information on family genealogies. Call 724-258-2377 if you would like to donate any items.

The first meeting after the summer hiatus will on Thursday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Monongahela. The meetings are open to the public and new members are always welcomed.

As a non-profit organization, the historical society relies on donations and fundraisers to sustain it. The annual "Candlelight Ghostwalk" is the society’s major fundraiser of the year. We are so excited to announce several new activities in addition to our expanded ghostwalk schedule which includes a masquerade ball at the Monongahela Valley Country Club.

As always, we appreciate the support we have received for the past 15 years and hope that our 16th year will be better than ever! Please visit our website www.monongahelahistoricalsociety.com or call 724-258-5905 for further information on making reservations for the events listed below.
