Scenic trip from Charleroi to Monongahela

Join the River Town Program, a project of Pennsylvania Environmental Council, on September 7 for a one-day paddling trip on the scenic Monongahela River from Charleroi to Monongahela.

The trip, approximately 9 miles, will include a welcome from local leaders and educational presentation at lunch. Registration is required.
This trip is open to all experience levels, but participants should be physically fit enough to paddle for 3-4 hours with a lunch break half way.

Agenda:
8:15 - 9:30 a.m. - Check-in at Monongahela Aquatorium; shuttle to North Charleroi launch.
9:45 a.m. - Welcome from local leaders
9:55 a.m. - Safety talk and paddling instruction
10:05 a.m. - Launch
12:00 p.m. - Lunch (provided) at Webster boat launch
12:15 p.m. - Presentation: Monongahela Historical Society
12:50 p.m. - Launch
3:00 p.m. - Take out at Monongahela Aquatorium

Cost is $20 for adults, $15 for children under 16. Cost includes water, Gatorade, and snacks; lunch; shuttle service; educational presentations; a commemorative t-shirt; and ACA one-day insurance.
Participants can bring their own canoe or kayak or rent a canoe from our partner, Wilderness Voyageurs (details below). If you bring your own equipment please be sure to bring a personal floatation device for everyone in your canoe/kayak. All participants must wear an approved PFD on the water.

Equipment Rental Available
Don’t have a boat? No problem! Please contact our partner, Wilderness Voyageurs, to reserve a canoe, paddle, and approved personal flotation device (PFD). Cost: $15/person. Call Wilderness Voyageurs at 1-800-272-4141 or 724-329-1000. You must reserve a boat in advance; no rentals will be available on the day of the event.
