The month of May is dedicated to honoring mothers. The May committee of the Catholic Women’s College Club began the evening by placing a floral crown on a statue of Our Blessed Mother, while Diane Vernet led the women in singing “Hail Holy Queen.”
Judy Kovalcik then read the poem, “No Love like a Mother’s Love.” Lea Petaccia recognized the matriarchs of the club: Angie Serinko, Noreen Fazzini, Olga Plavko, Thelma Kurpieski, Dorothy Jozwiak, and Annetta Ducato. These women have truly lived the meaning of the CWCC’s mission statement as realized in short biographies of these special ladies.

A buffet dinner was then served by the chef and staff at Anthony’s on the Mon. President Susan Gessner thanked the committee for the inspirational program then called the business portion of the meeting to order. Roll call was taken by Vice President Camilla Ferrara. Secretary Jo Anna Stroh read the minutes and Sally Keeney gave the treasurer’s report. Correspondence was also read by Stroh which included information on a testimonial dinner honoring Judy Kovalcik for her dedication to the American Legion.

In the absence of Chaplain Fr. James Young, Dorothy Jozwiak installed the officers for next year. They are: President, Lenni Nedley; Vice President, Lisa Foglia; Secretary, Jo Anna Stroh ;Treasurer, Sally Keeney. Gessner continued the meeting recognizing 14 members for perfect attendance. These women each received potted herbs for their vigilance in attendance. Door prize tickets were drawn. Winners each received a beautiful potted flower. Gessner gave each member a framed copy of a Polish Blessing as a token of her gratitude for their support. She thanked the women for their constant encouragement during her reign as president.

Catholic Women’s College Club will next meet on September 9.
