Adult Programs
 
Conversation Salon
Your opinions and observations are welcome at the Pleasant Hills Library Conversation Salon on Friday, August 2 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Newcomers invited to participate. Refreshments served.
 
Murder and Mayhem Mystery Book Club
The Pleasant Hills Library Murder and Mayhem Mystery Book Club will meet on Monday, August 5 at 1:00 p.m. The group will discuss Mallory’s Oracle by Carol O Connell. Kathleen Mallory, a tough street kid turned policewoman investigates the death of her foster father, head of major crimes, who was on the trail of a serial killer targeting elderly women with rich estates when he was murdered. Extra copies of the book are available at the front desk.
 
Live Music Performance
Enjoy Music on the Library Lawn performed by Tara Conley on Wednesday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m. Tara is a talented senior at TJHS and sings original contemporary songs and plays a digital piano. Bring a lawn chair and relax and enjoy the cool summer evening, a glass of lemonade, and cool music. If raining, the performance will be moved indoors.
 
Adult Summer Reading Program - "Zombie Party"
The Pleasant Hills Library will hold a Zombie Party for all participants in the adult summer reading program on Thursday, August 8 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as zombies or as human zombie food. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Evening includes favors, games, prizes and plenty of surprises. Registration required.
 
Writers Group and Lifestory Writers
The Writers Group and Lifestory Writers will meet on Tuesday, August 13 at 6:30 p.m. Anyone with an interest in writing in any genre is invited to attend. Group provides support and incisive critique for professional and amateur writers. Bring a sample piece of writing to the meeting.
 
Book Group Meeting
The Book Group will meet on Monday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss Don’t Ever Get Old by Daniel Friedman. When Buck Schatz, senior citizen and retired Memphis cop learns that an old adversary may have escaped Germany with a fortune in stolen gold, he decides to hunt down the fugitive and claim the loot. Extra copies of the book are available at the front desk.
 
Uganda presentation
Sue Hutchins will present the program Uganda: The Beauty of its Land and its People, on Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. Sue travelled to Uganda this past spring on a mission trip and has come back with stunning photos, insightful descriptions and heartwarming stories to share. Registration requested.

Zoobeats! Throughout August, and September. Stop by the library to explore the magic of music composition! This program is brought to you by WYEP and Allegheny County Library Association in partnership with Pleasant Hills Public Library.
 
Preschool Story Time: Tuesdays, June 4 – August 27 at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Explore different themes through stories, songs, crafts, and a snack! For children ages 3 1/2 to 6 years old, with or without a caregiver. No registration necessary.
 
Baby Book Nook: Wednesdays, June 5 – August 28 at 10:30 a.m. Nursery and action rhymes, songs, books, and so much more! For children birth to 2 years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.
 
Tot Time: Thursdays, June 6 – August 29 at 10:30 a.m. Learn and grow with stories, songs, finger plays, fun activities and a snack! For children ages 2 to 3 1/2 years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.
 
Teen Talk: Thursdays, June 13 – August 8 at 12 Noon. Stuff your face with delicious food while enjoying conversation with friends and a variety of games! We’ll play Wii and chat about books! Tell your friends! Weekly SRC winner picked at each meeting. Winner need not be present at time of drawing. For students going into grades 6 – 12. No registration necessary.
 
After School Adventures - Too Cool for School: Wednesday, August 7 at 4:00 p.m. Decorate your school supplies to be uniquely yours! We’ll make a few accessories but please bring anything you want to decorate. For children going into Kindergarten - 5th Grade. Registration required.
 
Teen & Adult Summer Reading Club Finale: Zombie Party: Thursday, August 8 at 6:00 p.m. Adults and teens are invited to transform into zombies while celebrating the end of summer! Wrap up Summer Reading Club in undead style! For adults and teens going into grades 6 – 12. Registration required.
 
Children's Summer Reading Club Finale: Magicman TJ Hill: Friday, August 9 at 1:00 p.m. Sure to make you laugh and scream, Magicman TJ Hill will bring the magic of Summer Reading to a delightful conclusion! Fun for the whole family! Registration required.
 
PJ Family Story Time - Ahoy Mateys: Monday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. Let’s help some pirates bury treasure! Enjoy stories, songs, games, crafts, and a yummy snack! Wear your PJs! Fun for the whole family! Registration required.
 
Kindergarten Readiness: Wednesday, August 14 at 4:00 p.m. Are you going to Kindergarten this year? Join us for a special storytime to help you prepare for the year ahead! For children going into Kindergarten. Registration required.
 
SingSteps Community Music Class: Tuesday, August 20 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 24 at 9:30 a.m. Sing, dance, and learn with SingSteps, a new music education program! Enjoy making music together as a family! Family Program. Registration required.
 
After School Adventures - Lego Fun: Wednesday, August 21 at 4:00 p.m. Join us for intense and wacky building competitions with some free play thrown in! Bring your own Legos or use ours! For children going into Kindergarten - 5th Grade. Registration required.
