At the June 10, 2013 Belle Vernon Borough Council meeting, Mr. Jack Lawver, Second Vice President of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs, presented a certificate of recognition to the Mayor of Belle Vernon and member of Council in honor of the borough’s 200th anniversary.

The 5-day celebration included a parade, carnival, Battle of the Bands, fireworks, Bike Run, and a car show. Event chairwoman, Mary Beth Secleter, thanked the Bicentennial committee and all those who made this community celebration possible.
Also during the meeting it was announced that the Southwest Regional Police have a new K-9 unit that has been patrolling the streets on foot. Council expressed excitement at this new development and hopes to see the new dog on patrol often.
