The new 3/4 mile section of the Montour Trail between Triphammer and Piney Fork Roads, South Park Township, was opened to trail users on May 4 after fences required for trail user safety were completed. An official ribbon cutting for the trail section is planned for mid-July.

The South Hills Friends of the Montour Trail June 2013 meeting will be held at 6:30 pm June 11 at the South Park Community Room located behind the Township Building at 2675 Brownsville Road, South Park. The Friends are looking for volunteers to help with resurfacing of the trail between mileposts 36.7 and 38.1 in early June. No special construction experience is required. Interested individuals should email info@montourtrail.org.
