Elizabeth Township planning spring and late summer events - A great fle market and a historical trip through Ohio country.

Flea market
The society's flea market from 9 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, will be a sign spring has finally arrived. Bargain hunters will find tables covered with household items in the yard at the Coates House.

Historic Tour to Ohio
The Authentic 1790-1815 Fair at New Boston with woodland Indian area, entertainment and crafts will be the destination for the society’s historic tour August 30-31 and September 1. The tour will feature lunch at Clifton Mill, a seven-story, water-powered gristmill; a tour of an 1839 stagecoach stop, an 1849 restored Greek revival mansion, the Johnny Appleseed museum and a vintage baseball game.

The historical reenactment includes a cannon salute to General George Rogers Clark riding into the fair, Daniel Boone and other frontier heroes. The Mad River Light Artillery sets up their six-pounder cannon for several firings. A battle restaged features militia on foot and horses, Shawnee warriors and British troops.

Cost is $275 per person that includes rooms and most meals. For details, call Lander at 724-872-7448.
