Food Check Out Day is the day of the year when the average American family has earned enough income to pay their food bill for the entire year.

Food Check Out Day also celebrates the safe, abundant, affordable, nutritious food that the American farmer grows. Food Check Out Day and week has been celebrated by the PA Farm Bureau for many years and for most County Farm Bureaus it is used to collect needed food and other items for the local Ronald McDonald house or their local food pantry.

“We donated well over $100 worth of paper products and gift cards today, and we are looking for additional community support. This will be an ongoing drive, with an annual drop-off,” Women’s Committee Chairman Lisa Wherry. “Anyone interested in donating restaurant gift cards for families to use while staying at the Ronald McDonald House, paper products, pop tabs, or even magazines or newspapers can give me a call. We want to continue to support our local families in need while bringing attention to the contributions that agriculture provides to families across the nation. It is a joint effort.”
