On Sunday, April 26, 2020, Pastor John Custer was visiting with a parishioner couple at his Roscoe home when he was startled by shouts and cars honking. Custer, Pastor of Monessen Orchard Christian Fellowship Church looked outside to find a birthday party “parade” just for him!

This van owned by Karen Sager, Orchard parishioner was decorated for the ‘drive by’ parade event.

Orchard parishioner Janet Fisher had planned a ‘drive-by birthday party’ for the Pastor. Over 20 cars participated in the rainy-day parade, driving by the house, flashing their lights and displaying signs wishing him a “happy birthday.” Some people brought balloons, birthday cards, banners, or well wishes on paper. There was an area set up outside to place cards.

Pastor John’s wife, Pastor Jethe Custer, handed out cake to everyone. “It was a complete surprise for (Pastor) John. He had no idea,” said Jethe. “We have an awesome bunch of saints!”
