The Monongahela Area Library will be holding a program called “Chat with a WWII Veteran” on January 18 from 12 noon - 2 PM.

Come and listen to an afternoon of tales from local WWII ball turret gunner and Air Force veteran, Bob Yowan, who was interviewed and featured in the book ‘Hitler's Last Christmas’ by Donald F. Kilburg, Jr.

Bad weather prevented air support to the ground troops during the Battle of the Bulge, but when the skies finally cleared Yowan and his crew were called upon to be part of the largest aerial bombing mission ever undertaken on December 24, 1944. Yowan will talk about the mission, his service, experiences during the war, and events after his plane was shot down that fateful day. This event is pen to all ages. Please register with the library for this special program by calling 724-258-5409. The Monongahela Area Library is located at 813 W. Main Street in Monongahela.
