Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH) honored 134 volunteers in attendance during the Hospital’s 2017 Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on Aug. 4 in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center.

MVHvolunteers
Volunteers from the Quilter's Club

In her opening remarks, Erin Sinko, MVH’s manager of Concierge Services, praised the volunteers for their untiring willingness to support the hospital. “As I look around this room, I see so many helping hands — people very willing to share their time and talents with the patients, visitors and staff at Monongahela Valley Hospital.”

The volunteers included men, women, teens and children who demonstrated an unparalleled spirit of giving. Some of the adult volunteers in attendance assisted MVH patients and employees in dozens of departments and units ranging from Anesthesiology to Food and Nutrition Services.  Others raised money or handcrafted outerwear, blankets, shawls and treatment gowns. The youngest volunteers recognized were members of Girl Scout Troop #52425 of Finleyville. The girls conducted a community collection and made MVH the recipient of the items.  In the photo at right:  MVH unit clerk Jackie Ingram (standing) poses with her fellow members of the Mon Valley Quilters Club including (l. to r.) Elaine Harmon, Shirley Kobelak and JoAnne Hoffman. The Quilters Club handcrafts Linus blankets that are donated to MVH patients.

  • “Ask Me” Greeters
  • On-call Chaplains
  • Members of Epiphany of Our Lord of Monessen
  • Members of First Christian Church of Charleroi
