Winners of the Washington County Community Foundation’s (WCCF) 2016 Clicks for Cash competition gathered at the Foundation’s offices in Eighty Four to accept checks totaling $5,000 -- the largest pool of grants given to date in the web-based contest, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Gateway Health Plan.

Top winner Pet Search gathered 2,158 unique page views – or votes – in the competition, which ran from June 6-12, to win $3,000 in an unrestricted grant from the WCCF’s Acorn Fund, the largest top prize given since the competition began in 2013.

Four other non-profits won $500 each in unrestricted grants via a random computerized drawing held after the Clicks for Cash competition. The non-profits are the American Cancer Society, Washington County Chapter; the Olivia Scott Foundation; Bentleyville Public Library; and Pennsylvania State Animal Response Team - "Washington County Animal Response Team.”

Charities eligible to compete in Clicks for Cash were those that registered by June 1 for the Foundation’s annual WCCF Gives day, to be held this year on Sept. 13. During the competition, the charities urged supporters to visit their pages on the WCCF Gives website, www.wccfgives.org. Each visit to a page from a unique computerized device counted as a vote.

Clicks for Cash has grown in popularity since its inception in 2013. WCCF President & CEO Betsie Trew noted that this year’s number of unique page views for charities exceed last year's by 42 percent.

"That is tremendous news! Clicks for Cash helps our charities become more proficient both in using the wccfgives.org website in preparation for WCCF Gives and in using social media," she said. "We thank Gateway Health for providing an increased incentive for charities to participate in Clicks for Cash and we hope even more will register next year for a chance to win."
