Local Women “Get Dirty” in Support of Friend

On Saturday, June 8, Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce members Tanya Chaney, Sam Robbins, Judi Robbins and the GRC Director, Gina C. Lynn participated in the “Dirty Girl Mud Run” held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds.

The women competed in honor of fellow chamber member and friend Kate Crawford, who is battling Stage IV Breast Cancer. They committed to each other to complete each obstacle on the course, no matter the difficulty, knowing that whatever they faced was minor to what Kate faces daily.

Their modified camouflage shirts, embellished with pink in support of breast cancer awareness, didn’t stay clean for long. These mud warriors climbed, crawled and slid their way through the 5K course which included 13 obstacles varying in degree of difficulty. With encouragement and support from each other, they successfully completed the event. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefited the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Foundation.
