Local People

The Banners Across America program continues to grow in popularity among local towns in the South Hills and Mon Valley communities, and Bob Jones, Sr. is happy to take on the initiative of ensuring Finleyville and Union Township’s banners are of the highest quality.

Bob Jones

Jones is the executive director of Finleyville/Union Township's Banners Across America. He will take an old picture and crop, clean, and simply do whatever necessary to ensure a veteran’s picture is of the best quality for print. HTM Designs in Castle Shannon then creates and designs the banners using the pictures.

How many pictures has Jones done? John Koller, Adjutant of Finleyville American Legion said, “I'm guessing about 350. I asked Bob yesterday when we were fixing frames. He said ‘I have no idea.’ Between Finleyville and Union Township, it's got to be 350 or more.” Still serving selflessly, he obviously does not keep count.

Jones also currently serves as 1st Vice Commander of The American Legion Morrison Ritchie Post 613, Finleyville.

Applications for the banners can be found at www.troopbanners.com/finleyville/.
