Peters Township Park and Recreation Department is offering the following summer camps at the Community Center. Registration begins June 1 for camps. Pre-registration required.  To register, or for more information, please call the Parks & Recreation Department at (724) 942-5000.
 
Summer Day Camp
(AGES 6 – 11 YEARS)
Three 1-week sessions for children who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 6-11 years). Enjoy sports, crafts, hikes, music, animals, games, service projects, special visitors/speakers and more all with old and new friends!
 
Around the World
Explore different exciting world cultures with unique games, special guests, music, food,             traditional sports, and cool crafts!
Day: July 8 – 12; Monday – Friday     Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
 
Eco Challenge
Love our great outdoors with interesting speakers, forest hikes, flower pressing, and a day fishing and exploring at our gorgeous Peters Lake Park!
Day: July 15 – 19; Monday – Friday     Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
 
All About Animals
Learn all about different animals through exciting games, fun crafts and interesting guest             speakers.
Day: July 22 – 26; Monday – Friday     Time: 9 a.m. - Noon 
Fee: $55 Resident / $83 Non-Resident (per week)

Playground Pals
(AGES 4 – 8 YEARS)
Three 1-week sessions, ( three days a week) for children who enjoy games, sports, crafts and using their imagination. Guest speakers will be present. Pre-registration required at the Community Recreation Center.
 
Holi-daze
Celebrate different holidays each day with awesome crafts, games and music!
Day: July 29, 31 and August 2     Time: 9:30 a.m. – Noon
 
Discovering Dinosaurs!
Dig deep and learn about all different types of dinosaurs with a puppet show, crafts and songs,  and even a fossil hunt!
Day: August 5, 7, 9    Time: 9:30 a.m. – Noon
 
Off to Sea
Live like a pirate for the week with treasure hunts, adventurous games and ocean crafts.
Day: August 12, 14, 16     Time: 9:30 a.m. – Noon

WILD ANIMAL SAFARI ART CAMP
(AGES 5 – 11 YEARS)
Lots of wild animals will be created in this art jungle!  We will explore animal prints, lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and many more African jungle animals in the mediums of drawing, painting, clay and crafts! Instructor: Karen Hartman
Day: July 8 – 11     Time: 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

PIRATE ADVENTURE ART CAMP
(AGES 5 – 10 YEARS)
Ahoy Mates!  Come and create your own pirate treasures in this camp!  Junior pirates will make a treasure chest, clay coins, a buried treasure map, and a pirate ship painting along with many more adventurous treasures. Instructor: Karen Hartman
Day: July 22 – 25         Time: 4 – 5 p.m.

ISLAND LUAI ART CAMP
(AGES 6 – 12 YEARS)
Dress in your island clothes while we create colorful island projects!  Seashells, sand, sunsets, palm trees, good luck tiki statues and much more island art will be created in this Aloha art camp. Instructor: Karen Hartman
Day: August 5 – 8      Time: 3 – 4 p.m.

Princess Dance Camp 
(AGES 3 – 5 YEARS)
Calling all Princesses! This Princess themed camp will focus on fundamentals of ballet while using fun “Princess” props and music! We will also make our own crowns and magic wands to dance with!
Day: July 8, 9, 10         Time: 10:15 – 11:15 a.m.
Day: July 29, 30, 31      Time: 10:15 – 11:15 a.m.
Fee: $62 Member / $93 Non-Member
Material fee: $8 paid to instructor at first class


Broadway Bound! 
(AGES 6 – 8 YEARS)
This musical theater camp will teach basic dance steps and combinations while students act and interpret music from a Broadway show or movie! Learn stage directions and theater terminology as well.
Day: July 8, 9, 10         Time: 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Day: July 29, 30, 31      Time: 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

CHESS CAMP
(AGES 6 YEARS AND UP)
Join us for chess instruction and playtime at the Peters Township Recreation Center. We all like to exercise our body, but how about exercising your mind? Bring a friend to have some fun with chess. Instructions include openings, middle game and end games.
