Family Hospice & Palliative Care is teaming with Asbury Heights to present a one-day seminar with nationally recognized dementia expert Teepa Snow. The program, “Mobility, Comfort and Safety for Patients with Dementia," will take place Thursday, March 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Asbury Heights, 700 Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon. Presenting with Snow will be Scott Miller, M.D., a palliative care certified physician and full-time medical director at Family Hospice’s Mt. Lebanon inpatient unit, The Center for Compassionate Care.

This seminar is designed for healthcare professionals. The $20 registration fee includes six contact hours for RNs, MSWs, nursing home administrators, and personal care home administrators. Attendees also receive a continental breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. To register or for more information, call 412-572-8747 or email ehorwith@familyhospice.com. Family Hospice and Asbury Heights will also present two evening educational sessions about dementia with Teepa Snow, free of charge to the public. Participants may attend one or both sessions. Dates and topics are Tuesday, March 5, 6-8 p.m., “Typical Progression of Dementia - What You Can Do To Help,” and Wednesday, March 6, 6-8 p.m., “Building Hands-On Caregiving Skills for Persons with Dementia.” This will included a presentation on caregiver training by Family Hospice Education Coordinator Lillian Sweeney, RN.
