Restaurants that serve Italian food are fairly common in this area, but how many eateries serve authentic German food? It takes a restaurant with an unusual name to have an unusual menu, and “Open German / Italian Flair” is the place that has both.

Open Restaurant: Chef and co-owner of Open German / Italian Flair in Venetia Bryan Skehan has 18 years experience in the restaurant industry and in his spare time serves as a volunteer firefighter and EMT.
Although they just opened on December 1, 2012, they are quickly gathering a following of diners who enjoy specialty foods. The menu selections are evenly divided between German, Italian, and American fare—dozens from each nationality. German enticements include wursts, schnitzels, and sauerbraten. Italian favorites are pastas including lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti, fettuccine, cavatappi, and penne. The variety of sandwiches extends from burgers and other popular beef / chicken / fish choices to wursts (bratwurst, knackwurst, and weisswurst).

Co-owner and Chef Bryan Skehan is proud to offer only fresh-made meals prepared in small batches. He is in the process of establishing supply lines from locally known sources (some just down the road) to ensure the freshness of the food served.

The atmosphere is cozy (seats 26 patrons), so it’s not hard to get your server’s attention if needed, as he or she is only a few steps from the kitchen. Lunch menu prices range from $8-$15, whereas dinners are priced at $10-$16. BYOB is A-OK if you’re at least 21 years old. Catering is available.

Open German / Italian Flair is located not in Veringenstadt, Venice, or Vermont but right here in Venetia (Washington County). More specifically, it has set up shop at 101 Sugar Run Road (lower floor in the back), at the intersection of Venetia Road. The Venetia Post Office is directly above.
