During a time when families are struggling, volunteers from Calvary Chapel South Pittsburgh (CCSP) Church in West Elizabeth has stepped up to help them with the ‘Blessing Warehouse’. They have collected basic care items including clothes, shoes, coats/jackets, and blankets, along with select furniture and much-needed houseware items. They are then given to families who are in search of necessities. Whether they are seeking clothes, a dresser, a few kitchen items, or if they are victims of flooding or a housefire and have lost everything, no family is turned away. There is no application process or income requirement to be eligible for assistance.

Bishop David Bonnar came home earlier this summer. The South Hills native, and former priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, was named bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio, in the fall of 2020. Last month, Bonnar celebrated a homecoming Mass at his former parish -- a place that truly formed his life's mission.

When people think about clergy and how they came to their calling, they might begin to think about their backgrounds, experiences, college majors and even what they did in earlier careers. Some might imagine a liberal arts major who studied history and religion. Others might think about a psychology major who spent time as a social worker. Chances are, though, that people may not think about individuals who majored in business and worked in the corporate world before feeling their call.

The Clothes 4U ministry of the First United Methodist Church, 200 State Street, Belle Vernon, will be open to the public on Tuesday, March 9 and Tuesday March 23 (weather permitting) from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.   We ask that you wear your mask and practice social distancing while on the premises.   We will be accepting donations at that time.
