Five outstanding alumni players will be inducted into the Belle Vernon Area Football Hall of Fame this season, an occasion that also will be used to posthumously honor Don Asmonga, its long-time basketball and baseball coach.

The Washington County Board of Commissioners presented a check for $33,000 to the PONY League World Series to support the World Series' efforts to attract tourists and increase the promotion of the event. The investment was made through the 2014 Washington County Tourism Grants Program.

These California Area High School senior students were awarded certificates for their athletic achievements this spring in track and field and baseball at the June 20 Mid Mon Valley All Sports Hall of Fame Banquet at the Willow Room in Rostraver Township.
