Pleasant Hills Middle School held its 6th grade DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Recognition Program on Friday, January 19, 2018.

DARE1
DARE Program at Pleasant Hills Middle School

PHMS school resource officer Ron Porupsky of the Pleasant Hills Police Department recently completed the 10-week program that provides students with strategies to help them stay away from drugs and alcohol by preparing them to act decisively and responsibly in difficult situations. As part of their final project, students created their own public service announcements to show what they have learned in their DARE classes.

The top ten DARE PSAs were shown at the program, and the students were all recognized with special patriotic DARE T-shirts for their extraordinary efforts.
At the end of the program, Principle Como and Pleasant Hills Police Chief Finnerty surprised Officer Porupsky with a special award from the National Association of School Resource Officers recognizing him with the Regional Exceptional Service Award. Officer Porupsky is one out of ten officers in the country to receive this prestigious award!

Great job to all the students for their hard work, and congratulations to Officer Porupsky on the well-deserved award! Thank you for all you do for the students and families in our community!
