The South Park Historical Society announced the following events.

October Meeting

On Tuesday, October 17 the Society’s program with guest speaker Brian Seech was “Big Foot and Strange Creatures of Pennsylvania.” There were many incidents of sightings throughout the state and especially in Allegheny County. He showed various slides showing the locations where they occurred and sketches of what the witnesses say they saw. After his presentation there was a lively and interesting discussion of guests with Brian.

November Meeting

The Society’s next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 21 at 7 p.m. at the Library Fire Hall. The program will be our annual “Show and Tell”. All Society’s meetings are open to the public at no charge and light refreshments are served. Please join us and bring with you what you have of interest to share.

South Park Historical Annual Christmas Party

The Society’s annual Christmas Party will be held on Tuesday, December 12. This party is for members and their guests. Reservations must be made before December 6. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for guests.

Enjoy Book

The Society is selling the 2018 Enjoy Book for $30 and is available at the Society’s meetings. Anyone living in the South Park Area can make arrangements for delivery of the new Enjoy Book to their home by calling 412-833-8160.

Society’s Books

The Society’s book, “Historical Snowden Township/South Park Township,” and their newly published book, “History of Allegheny County’s South Park: Farm Lands to Park Lands,” are available for sale at the Society’s meetings and the South Park Library for $20 (tax included). Books can also be ordered by calling 412-835-9529 or 412-655-4104. For an additional $3.25 for postage, the book can be mailed to any destination. These books would make a wonderful Christmas gift for a family member, friend or neighbor!
