State Rep. Bill Kortz, D-Allegheny, announced that funds from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program have been awarded to fire and emergency personnel within in his district.

Through the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner, the grants are allotted to volunteer and career fire, emergency medical service and rescue companies. Sixteen organizations received grants in 38th district.

“Being a first responder is an admirable profession and I couldn’t be more proud of those who serve our communities,” said Kortz. “These grants will help fire and medical personnel to improve their facilities, purchase new equipment, reduce debt or enhance training if needed.”
