A 1791 tax on whiskey, known as the "Whiskey Act" led settlers in western Pennsylvania to push back in protests with consequential arrests and illegal detentions. One protest occurred locally and cited by a national and state register marker at Whiskey Point, Parkinson's Ferry, now Monongahela. The public is welcome to step back in history to the Whiskey Rebellion and where it occurred in our little corner of the state!
