The forum brings together students from across the 50th district to share their findings and highlight the features that make their communities unique. The forum is the part of Cook’s Student Advisors Program where students present the assets, attractions and activities they identified within the boundaries of each school district.
“Students are the foundation of our future in so many ways,” Cook said. “When students take the time to identify what makes their communities special, they become more invested in helping those areas grow and succeed.”
Cook’s Student Advisors Program was started because he recognized the importance of ensuring young people are engaged not only in their government, but also in the growth and direction of their communities.
“Having our students take an active role in this work helps strengthen their connection to the 50th district and encourages them to see the value and opportunity right here at home,” Cook added.
Presentations were given by students from Southeastern Greene, Carmichaels Area, Jefferson-Morgan, Bentworth, Brownsville Area and California Area schools.
