Pleasant Hills Rotary Places Lifesaving AEDs with Local Community Partners

Through community fundraising efforts and a Rotary District Grant titled “Heartbeat for Heroes,” the Pleasant Hills Rotary Club has purchased five lifesaving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to strengthen emergency preparedness across the community.

AED units — along with wall cabinets, carrying cases, and clear signage — have already been delivered to Pam Mason and her team at South Park Meals on Wheels and to Rev. Kelly Gilliam at Life Builders. Three additional AEDs will be delivered in the coming weeks.

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen without warning, and immediate access to an AED can dramatically increase survival rates. By placing these devices in trusted community organizations, Rotary is helping ensure that staff, volunteers, and the individuals they serve have access to critical emergency equipment when every second counts.

“Heartbeat for Heroes” reflects Rotary’s ongoing commitment to protecting those who dedicate their lives to serving others. The project was funded through local fundraising combined with support from a Rotary District Grant, which helps clubs expand the impact of their service projects. District Grants are made possible through contributions to The Rotary Foundation, allowing local clubs to address important needs within their own communities.

Each AED placed represents more than equipment on a wall — it represents preparedness, compassion, and the power of neighbors coming together to care for one another.
