Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) recently announced that funding has been secured for a pair of fire departments in Washington County. The departments receiving funding are:

•             Charleroi Fire Department - $4,620.

•             Marianna Volunteer Fire Company - $3,066.

The money comes through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and is supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The funding allows for the purchase of critical wildfire suppression equipment, protective gear, communications tools and training.

“We appreciate the funding given to these fire departments in the 50th District,” Cook said. “Our firefighters need all the support they can get and we’re happy for this investment in public safety.”

The departments were given funding through a cost-share grant program that provides up to $15,000 to rural fire companies serving municipalities with less than 10,000 residents.
