South Hills Elks Lodge Collecting Items to Help Veterans and Those in Need

Pittsburgh South Hills BPOE 2213 Elks Lodge accepts donated items to help area veterans and those in need. They accept any and all donations. The Elks Lodge invests in our community through programs that help meet the needs of today's veterans, children and elderly to improve their quality of life. There is no deadline and they accept, CLEAN GENTLY USED ITEMS donations all year long

The Elks pledge "So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them." The Elks National Veterans Service Commission takes that pledge one step further, and promises service to our nation's veterans and military members, with a special focus on service to those in need.

Thousands of Elks volunteers give generously of their time, energy and resources to serve veterans and military members each day, to ensure that pledge is not an idle one. Today, Elks volunteers provide direct service to veterans in more than 330 facilities each month. Through grants to Elks Lodges, they connect with veterans and military members in their communities, providing them with services where they live. They help veterans rehabilitate and thrive through adaptive sports programs and therapy kits. And their ‘Welcome Home’ initiative is reaching out to some of our most vulnerable veterans: those who are experiencing homelessness.

Items needed for ‘Welcome Home Kits’ include: Dishes, pots/pans, glasses, kitchenware, oven mitts, baking sheets, towels, toiletries (toothpaste/shampoo/soap), shower liner and rings, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee maker, toaster, light bulbs, trash can, trash bags, dish soap/all-purpose cleaner, broom/mop/bucket/sponge, laundry basket, laundry detergent, microwave, pillows and blankets, bedding (Queen size).
