A Fond Farewell to Cathie Humphreys - Friends of the South Park Library President for 50 Remarkable Years of Service

Cathie_Farewell

Dear Editor;

After 50 years of extraordinary service, dedication, and leadership, Cathie Humphreys, the President of the Friends of South Park Township Library is moving on to a new chapter in her life. As she relocates to be closer to family, we take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for everything she has done for the Friends organization, our library and community.

For half a century, she has been the driving force behind the Friends organization, championing the library’s mission with passion, grace, and tireless energy. From organizing book sale fundraisers and increasing membership to advocating for literacy programs and facility improvements, her impact has been both profound and lasting. Under her guidance, the Friends of the Library became more than just an organization; it became a true community, a place where neighbors connected and friendships flourished. Her dedication helped transform our group into a family, united by a shared love of learning and service.

Her vision and commitment have touched generations of library patrons. Whether it was launching new initiatives, mentoring volunteers, or simply sharing her love for books, she has been a true inspiration. Her leadership built not just a stronger library, but a stronger community.

As she embarks on this next chapter, we want her to know how deeply she will be missed, not just as a dedicated leader but as a cherished friend, trusted mentor, and an irreplaceable part of the Friends of the Library family.

As we grow, adapt, and look to the future, we will do so with her example lighting the way as we honor her work by continuing to serve our community with the same passion, purpose, and heart she brought to every endeavor.

Thank you, Cathie, for 50 incredible years. Your contributions will never be forgotten, and your spirit will always be an integral part of our story. We’re grateful to know that, even as you move on, you’ll still be just a call away.

With love and gratitude,
The Friends of the South Park Township Library
